Who should control medical guidance?

A federal judge just blocked the massive administrative reshuffling of the CDC's vaccine advisory boards. This brings us right back to a core question of accountability: should elected leaders have the power to fire and replace public health bureaucrats, or should medical policy be totally insulated from politics?

    Elections should matter, but vaccine guidance should not swing wildly every four years.

    Right. Policy priorities can change, basic evidence standards should not.

    Agency heads are enough accountability. Advisory science should be harder to purge.

    Career experts can be wrong too, but replacing boards wholesale looks political by definition.

    There has to be a removal process, just not a loyalty test.

    Public trust needs insulation from both parties, not just the party you dislike.
